Alaska State Lottery

This site will be dedicated to the Alaska State Lottery . . . or Alaska State Lotteries, depending on what Alaska allows, or what the voting citizens of Alaska want, if anything.  Although still controversial in some areas, sanctioned lotteries appear to be an acceptable way for states to offer, and control, a form of legalized gambling.  Done right, the revenues help support small businesses and public projects.  I'm guessing a normal state lottery would be the best place to start.

On December 23, 2011, the Department of Justice changed its position on what gambling is allowed on the Internet.  Previously, the DOJ said the Federal Wire Act of 1961 prohibited all forms of Internet gambling and gaming. Their new interpretation of the Wire Act asserts that only sports gambling is prohibited, leaving the door open for online poker and other types of online gambling, including selling online lottery tickets for state lotteries (Forbes 2011).

Because of this ruling, it appears Internet gambling (including Internet poker) and state lotteries may be coming soon.  In the meantime, good luck planning your lottery numbers!
